Kimie Mittman
Yoga Teacher
Class Vibe: My class is informed by my background in child development, special education, applied behavior analysis, and positive psychology. I weave together positive psychology concepts and interventions, dynamic breathing techniques, mindful/fun movement, and practices for down-regulation in a comprehensive experience.
Training & Experience: I have been teaching yoga for over 13 years. I hold a 200-hour certification and am currently pursuing my 500-hour. I also hold a 95-hour kids certification, and 30-hour yin certification. I am also certified in Applied Positive Psychology through The Flourishing Center My background combines yoga, education, and behavioral health. I hold an undergraduate degree in Child Development and Family Studies/Special Education and a master's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis. As a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), I work full-time supporting neurodiverse individuals across home, clinic, and school settings.
I am also the founder of Mindful Behavior Connection LLC, an inclusive yoga outreach program dedicated to bringing mindful movement, yoga, and wellness practices to students of all ages and abilities.
What’s the heart of your teaching? I hope students feel safe, unconditionally supported, and welcomed in class to show up as they are, right now.
Why did you start teaching? I started teaching when I finished undergrad. As a neurodiverse adult, I was experiencing burnout and anxiety when I stumbled into a yoga class. Yoga offered me with tools to self-regulate that were life-changing. I pursued teaching in order to share those tools with others. That is at the heart of the work that I do!
Extra Spark: I create mindful behavior connection experiences that weave together positive psychology, mindfulness, dynamic breathwork, movement games, and thoughtful sequences.
Off the mat: I love to ride my bike, hike, and see live music with my husband! I also love the beach, traveling, and going on new adventures.
